Yes, in a limited disclosed use: the pre-release Steam Demo page said generative AI was used for some character voice-over. Public sources do not identify the characters, tool, amount, or suggest that all voices, art, code, or gameplay were AI-generated.
What was disclosed before release?
The old Steam Demo page included a disclosure that the team could use AI-assisted tools in parts of development while retaining control over creative direction, gameplay, and final asset decisions. Search indexing and a contemporaneous August 1 report preserved a more specific statement: generative AI was used for some character voice-over.
That supports a narrow answer. It does not identify which characters were involved or how much dialogue was affected.
What the disclosure does not say
No reliable reviewed source names:
- A particular voice character.
- A model or provider such as ElevenLabs, OpenAI, Microsoft, or Google.
- A count of generated lines.
- AI-generated final art, animation, code, level design, or core gameplay.
- All voice-over as generated.
Why the current Steam page looks different
The full-release Steam page visible on August 11 did not show an AI Generated Content Disclosure in its public body or App Details response. The retired Demo page also no longer exposes its full store content.
That absence cannot prove that the final game used no AI, and it cannot prove why the disclosure is not visible now. A storefront migration, revised submission, or another cause is possible, but no public source reviewed here confirms the reason.
The accurate wording is therefore historical and specific: the pre-release disclosure said some character voice-over used generative AI; the current full-game page does not display that disclosure.
Enemy AI is a different question
Players may also use “AI” to mean enemy behavior. Official material says Corrupted vessels react to sound, movement, and each other unpredictably. That is gameplay behavior and should not be mixed with the generative-AI voice disclosure.
